SAINT MARY THE VIRGIN, CHURCHYARD
If you have ever undertaken a task to capture a graveyard in its entirety you will no doubt be aware as I am myself just how much time and effort it takes to accomplish and this section is by no means complete so represents something that is only just scratching the surface.
So having made that statement, if by circumstance you end up with two people (or groups) going out to the same end then what could be wrong with that? Duplication aside, and if nothing else it merely assists the visitors, researcher or otherwise to cross reference their findings, therefore I would like to share the following link to Susan Sleeps site with you.
Susan's 'Walney Monumental Inscriptions' website is based predominantly on her studies in 2000-2002 as part of an archaeology course and the information therein is to be commended, it's also so much more than just images, there is a wealth of supporting information including a graveyard plan and clear transcriptions taken from the graves themselves making the life of the reader so much easier. So even if you've seen the stone here on this site and the inscription isn't quite legible then Susan's site is definitely worth a visit.
